In Remembrance of Dastigeer Sahib's ShrineA video memorial dedicated to Dastigeer Sahib's shrine in Khanyar area of Srinagar, Kashmir which was gutted by a fire on Monday, 25 June 2012. This was filmed in 2010 during Dastigeer Sahib Urs, a week-long annual festival at the shrine. The shrine was built in 1806 in remembrance of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) who was an Islamic missionary during the 12th century. This is a tragic loss to Kashmir's cultural, spiritual, and architectural heritage.

DrishtiDrishti: "vision" or "insight" in Sanskrit. This short personal video is inspired by a gazing technique in yoga that focuses the eyes on a single point to bring awareness inward. Finding your "drishti" helps especially in challenging postures when your mind is urging you to quit because you are experiencing discomfort or difficulty balancing. I shot this handheld in various places on the island of Ireland. The voice is my mom talking to me over Skype.

Independence DayIn this short experimental video, I convey the two aspects of my consciousness on July 4th, America's Independence Day. I recently returned to the US after living for a total of 16 months in India-controlled Kashmir where the population is struggling for independence from Indian rule. Since June 11, 110 Kashmiris have been killed during pro-freedom demonstrations exacerbating violent unrest in the region. This is my expression of the contrast between my awareness about the violence in Kashmir and my experience on America's independence day. The footage from Kashmir is youtube videos posted between June and July.
